Dr. Nadzam has extensive experience in health care as a practitioner, educator, administrator, and researcher, and currently, directs the Virginia Cardiac Service Quality Initiative (VCSQI) contract with CMS to assist clinicians to prepare for merit-based payments. She has held multiple positions for quality and safety, including executive director of the Cleveland Clinic Quality Institute. V.P. for performance measurement at The Joint Commission, project director for Joint Commission’s Hospital Engagement Network (another CMS contract), and most recently, directing a public health project aimed at promoting cities’ and counties’ attention to improving the health of their communities. Debbie was vice chair of the research/quality council during NQF’s first four years and was chairperson and is a current member of National Coordinating Council for Medication Error Reporting and Prevention. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and has a six sigma black belt. Her BSN is from the University of Michigan, and MSN and Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University.
