The VCSQI DEI 2.0 Workgroup recently hosted an impactful screening of Everybody’s Work by Shift Nursing. This transformative video dives into the realities of structural racism in healthcare, specifically in nursing, and how systemic barriers continue to impact diverse populations. Guided by Halima Walker (UVA), the session sparked deep reflections and a sense of purpose among attendees.

Halima facilitated a powerful discussion around collaboration, partnership, and the historical influence of structural racism on nursing. Attendees explored topics such as:
The National Commission on Racism in Nursing and its historical significance.
The critical need for a diverse nursing workforce to ensure equitable care.

The group ended with solutions-focused strategies, including the importance of mentorship and sponsorship programs to uplift underrepresented voices in nursing.
